About Chelsea
Dr. Chelsea Barnes provides culturally informed evidence-based psychotherapies to adults with a variety of presenting problems including PTSD, trauma, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and ADHD. Her values within clinical work include transparency, safety, creativity, and collaboration. She aims to create a safe and accepting space while working toward change that is ultimately rooted in your values. Our collaborative space can include work toward symptom reduction, acceptance-based strategies, connection with values, skills building, and personal growth.
Dr. Barnes is a certified provider of Cognitive Processing Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy and Motivational Interviewing. She specializes in other evidence-based psychotherapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, and Written Exposure Therapy.
In addition to her work at Summit Psychotherapy Center, Dr. Barnes is a staff psychologist with the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System (PAVA) and provides evidence-based psychotherapies to Veterans. She is also a faculty internship advisor with Palo Alto University and provides mentorship to students applying to doctoral level internships.
Outside of work, Dr. Barnes enjoys swimming, walking with her two dogs, baking with sourdough, and making pasta sauce from her Italian American heritage.
