About Dr. Matthew Elliott

Dr. Matthew Elliott is a Registered Psychological Associate providing individual psychotherapy to adults in California under the supervision of Dr. Emily Livermore (PSY 32910) and Dr. Jasmine Dobbs-Marsh (PSY 32048).

Dr. Elliott provides psychotherapy to adults with a range of presenting concerns including PTSD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, insomnia, and difficulties with emotion regulation. His work focuses on helping clients better understand their emotional responses in context, while using a trauma-informed perspective to promote healing and growth. Dr. Elliott’s work centers each client’s values and strengths, and includes building skills to navigate intense or challenging experiences more effectively. All in service of living a more connected, present, and meaningful life.

Dr. Elliott is trained in several evidence-based psychotherapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I).

Dr. Elliott completed his predoctoral clinical internship at the University of California, San Diego/ VA San Diego Consortium, where he received specialized training in the PTSD Clinical Team and the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Mood Clinic. During his PhD in Clinical Psychology at UC Berkeley, he also completed clinical training at the San Francisco VA Behavioral Sleep Medicine Clinic and the Berkeley Psychology Clinic, where he provided psychotherapy, conducted assessments, and served as a peer supervisor. Dr. Elliott is currently completing a postdoctoral research fellowship in the CALM Program at UC Berkeley, with a focus on the clinical science of bipolar disorder.

Outside of work, Dr. Elliott enjoys visiting with friends & family, going on walks with his dog, exercising, and following Bay Area sports teams.

Given that Dr. Elliott is in training, he is offering a reduced fee of $150-200 per session.
